ABSTRACT:
This 26 page paper considers the way a medical center may develop a strategic plan. Using a major New York hospital and medical facility the paper presents this process in three parts. The first part identifies the organization; the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn and the background including the mission and values, structure, management, strategic planning and governance. The second part of the paper undertakes an environmental assessment using the SWOT analysis, which is used to identity potential strategies that build on opportunities and are aligned with the organisational mission and goals. The last part of the paper is a financial projection for the chosen strategy, complete with capital budget and five year projections. The strategy suggested in the paper is the development of a live online chat system to be placed on the web site. The bibliography cites 13 sources.
